How do I clean candle wax from carpet?
Everybody loves candles, and with the advent of natural soy candles, and the myriad scents that are available, they make a great addition to any home, improving the ambience, and adding an old-style or romantic touch to a room.
The problem comes when candle wax is spilled. It’s not so bad if it’s spilled on a hard surface, it’s simply a case of letting the wax dry, then scraping it off. But what happens when hot candle wax is spilled on a carpet? How do you remove the wax, and then get rid of the stain?
Here’s how:
Allow the wax to dry. By trying to remove it when it’s still in its molten state, you only make matters worse by rubbing the stain in.
After the wax is dry, scrape as much of it up as you can, using a butter knife or similar implement.
Carefully vacuum up as much of the scraped wax particles as you can.
Place a piece of brown paper bag over the wax.
Using your household iron, on medium heat, iron over the paper. Make sure you keep the iron moving, so you don’t burn the carpet.
Lif tthe cloth and check if there is still wax. If there is, repeat the process until the wax is gone.
Take a cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol and dab the area. This should remove any stains left by the wax.
